A2 Film Brief

I'm Kafaya Abdirahman I am an A2 Media Studies student in Year 13.For my A2 project, I aim to produce a music video. I aim for the music video to have a specific target audience of teenagers to young people. The appeal of the horror genre for them are the scares and feelings of terror. Alongside a music video, I will also produce a magazine front cover, and a music website to promote my music video. Therefore to produce a finished film product, I require:

Edited sequences at different stages of production The magazine cover and the website are both print products and require research, draft layouts, including all stage management and any experimental material. After the products are complete, a textual analysis of the products is needed. However before beginning the project, there are several aspects to film production that I must complete.

Edited sequences at different stages of productionResearch is the main thing to understand the codes and conventions used in film, specifically the music video genre. This is very useful to know what pleas to certain target group and audiences and how to design the film to match their needs. This means that understanding the conventions of the music video genre, as I will be able to imitate what is triumphant. In this point I can gain an understanding what my target group and audience also market and produce a product that appeals to them mainly.

Therefore what I need to learn  was how to use the right equipment in order to produce my music video. Also I need to be able to use different techniques to record and edit for the film to be effective but to create a website and magazine cover, giving a expert notion to use the suitable software. Furthermore a draft materials are produced for all media products. This mean that producing draft materials, I can plan certain ideas and improve them ,but I will be able to show the improvements from first draft to final product. In this point these improvements can be made by showing the draft materials to a sample of the target group and audience for their opinions. This can also be reworked and polished to work in this illumination by planning first and making filming sprint effortlessly and to time limits.

All media products are made to specific deadlines to make them cost effective and meet their target group and  audience. So in order to complete the whole product, what  I need to do was timetable tasks leading up to the completion date. I need to allow time for;

• research,
• drafting storyboards and possible scripts,
• sources for sounds and music,
• editing,
• producing a website and front cover and the presentation.

The industry has deadlines as profit is their goal so they work to a timetable as to be cost effective and at times to release the product at the most gainful time of the time.
